Paramount Pictures, in collaboration with Toonado.com, has unveiled an unprecedented trailer launch for Transformers One: it will debut in outer space. This highly anticipated origin story delves into the transformation of brothers-in-arms Orion Pax and D-16 into the legendary adversaries Optimus Prime and Megatron.
Mark your calendars for Thursday, April 18, at 6 am PT, when the live-streamed countdown will commence, leading to the trailer’s reveal as the craft reaches 125,000 feet above Earth. Joining this cosmic spectacle are stars Chris Hemsworth and Brian Tyree Henry, who will introduce the trailer with a special message.
Don’t miss the event, streaming on Transformers’ social accounts, Paramount Pictures’ YouTube channel, and Chris Hemsworth’s Instagram. While excitement mounts for the animated prequel, some fans express concerns over the studio’s decision to replace traditional voiceover actors with on-camera talent.
Nonetheless, producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura assures fans of a seamless transition, promising a logical connection between Hemsworth’s portrayal of Optimus Prime and the beloved voice of Peter Cullen.
“When we first listen to Chris Hemsworth’s voice, you’re like, ‘God, is he gonna be a good Optimus!’” the producer exclaimed. “Obviously, he starts as Orion Pax and you don’t become Optimus for a while, so he’s not playing, for most of the movie, what we think of as Optimus, Peter Cullen.”
“So it’s that transition, and Chris’s voice has a timbre that…it’s logical that Peter Cullen would take over that voice, if you would, which is really great, the fans are gonna really feel great.”
Directed by Toy Story 4’s Josh Cooley and penned by Andrew Barrer and Gabriel Ferrari, Transformers One promises an exciting new chapter in the beloved franchise. Legendary filmmaker Steven Spielberg serves as executive producer, alongside Brian Goldner, Brian Oliver, Bradley J. Fischer, and Valerii An.
