Legendary Entertainment, in collaboration with game developer Mob Entertainment, is bringing Poppy Playtime to life in a live-action movie adaptation. According to IGN, producers Don Murphy and Susan Montford from Angry Films are teaming up with Legendary to develop the film. While details about the plot and cast remain undisclosed, Mob Entertainment Co-founders Zach Belanger and Seth Belanger expressed their excitement about the project, stating, “This movie deal is a great logical next step in the growth of our transmedia entertainment company.” The statement reflects their commitment to inspiring and entertaining audiences worldwide through their games and brands.
The video game Poppy Playtime made its debut in 2021, plunging players into a chilling narrative set in 2005. As former employees of the enigmatic toymaker Playtime Co., players venture into its long-abandoned toy factory, haunted by the mysterious disappearance of its staff a decade earlier. Through a first-person perspective, players navigate a series of puzzles while evading various adversaries.
The game’s initial chapter launched on Steam for Microsoft Windows in October 2021, followed by releases for Android and iOS in March 2022, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 in December 2023, and Nintendo Switch on Christmas Day. Subsequent chapters continued the gripping tale, with the second instalment debuting on Microsoft Windows, iOS, and Android in 2022, and Chapter 3 arriving on Windows in January 2024. Currently, developers are crafting the eagerly awaited fourth chapter.
Another indie game turned Movie franchise is adding a new character!

Poppy Playtime will hope to replicate the success of Blumhouse’s Five Nights at Freddy’s, which has indicated an audience appetite for horror video game IP live-action fare. As Five Night at Freddy’s gears up for its sequel, a rumor recently surfaced regarding the inclusion of a well-known character from the source material.
Industry insider Daniel Richtman revealed that the film was casting for a major male role. “They are casting a new major male character for Five Nights at Freddy’s 2. My guess is it’s Henry Emily. Filming is expected to begin in Q4 this year in New Orleans,” Richtman stated. Henry Emily, also known as the Cassette Man, is the co-owner of Freddy Fazbear’s alongside William Afton.
The Poppy Playtime live-action movie adaptation is yet to schedule a release date.
