While the MCU debut of Red Hulk in Captain America: Brave New World has been speculated for a while, confirmation recently surfaced thanks to McDonald’s Happy Meal Toys! Although not the most detailed source, these plush toys hinted at what was to come. Now, with new promo art released, we finally get a clearer glimpse of the character design.
Although the artwork isn’t crystal clear, it offers a good indication of what to expect from Brave New World’s portrayal of the transformed General President Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross (portrayed by Harrison Ford). And no, it seems he won’t be sporting the Mustache when he undergoes his transformation!
A couple of weeks ago, the first official stills from the movie were unveiled, showcasing Anthony Mackie’s return as Sam Wilson, now wielding Steve Rogers’ iconic Vibranium shield. These images also featured our new Sentinel of Liberty meeting Ross, who entrusts Wilson with the mission of reforming The Avengers.
During a footage screening at CinemaCon earlier this month, Ross invites Wilson to the White House to commend him for his past heroics. However, chaos erupts when music triggers sleeper agent assassins, including Carl Lumbly’s Isaiah Bradley, who attempt to assassinate the President.

“It made more sense for it to be more of a grounded espionage action movie as opposed to aliens and airplanes coming through portals and sh*t,” Mackie told EW. “Even though I’ve been in so many of them and have seen it all now, the opportunity for Sam to really establish himself as a true action star and Avenger comes with this movie.”
“This movie is a clear reset,” he adds. It really re-establishes the idea of what this universe is and what this universe is going to be. I think with these movies, you’re getting a clear, new branding of what Marvel is headed towards the same way they did with Captain America: The Winter Soldier.”
Confirmation has recently emerged that additional photography for the sequel will extend until May or June, with Marvel bringing in Moon Knight writer Matthew Orton to pen new scenes and material for the film. While reshoots are customary, this prolonged period of additional photography has sparked speculation that significant changes may be underway for the story.

Joining Anthony Mackie and Harrison Ford in the cast are Danny Ramirez as the new Falcon, Shira Haas as the Israeli superheroine Sabra, Liv Tyler as Betty Ross, and Tim Blake Nelson as The Leader.
While specific plot details remain tightly under wraps, rumors suggest that Samuel Sterns will be unveiled as the “secret benefactor” behind the Serpent Society. The exact implications of this revelation remain uncertain, but it’s speculated that Sterns may be funding the group and possibly providing them with advanced technology.
Captain America: Brave New World is slated to hit theatres on February 14, 2025.
