DC Studios’ new projects are quickly taking shape, with Creature Commandos nearing completion, SUPERMAN currently in production, and Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow gearing up for filming later this year.

All eyes are now on Max’s Lanterns, as speculation mounts over the imminent announcement of its cast and creative team. Fueling the excitement, DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn recently shared a cryptic image on Instagram, sparking rumors of significant progress for the Lanterns project.

Gunn’s posts often carry deeper meanings, and fans are speculating that this tease hints at major developments for Lanterns. With Gunn teasing news on Threads for weeks, it’s possible that the show has finalized its casting for Hal Jordan and John Stewart.

Hal Jordan Green Lantern

Adding to the speculation, Sara Sampaio, known for her role as Eve Teschmacher in SUPERMAN, teased, “Spoiler!!!!!!” in response to Gunn’s post. Could this hint at Nathan Fillion’s Guy Gardner, or might there be more Green Lantern surprises in store?

Reports suggest that Lanterns has found its showrunner in Chris Mundy, known for his work on Criminal Minds. Rumors also indicate that Hal Jordan will be portrayed as older than John Stewart, with the latter likely in his 20s—a departure from their usual comic book ages.

Channing Tatum Green Lantern

Speculation is swirling that Channing Tatum might be considered for the role of Hal Jordan, according to certain scoopers. However, whether he’d be inclined to star in a TV series remains uncertain. As for who could step into the shoes of John Stewart, the casting remains a mystery, though there are some intriguing possibilities on the horizon.

“This is a story of a couple of Green Lanterns John Stewart and Hal Jordan,” Gunn said of Lanterns after it was first announced. “We have a few other Lanterns peppered in there but this is really a terrestrial based TV show which is almost like True Detective with a couple of Green Lanterns who are space cops watching over Precinct Earth in it they discover a terrifying mystery that ties into our largest story of the DCU.”

With Channing Tatum possibly in the mix for Hal Jordan and the role of John Stewart still up for grabs, the casting decisions for Lanterns are eagerly awaited by fans.
