Last week, Netflix premiered Zack Snyder’s “Rebel Moon – Part 2: The Scargiver,” but unfortunately, it didn’t fare much better with critics compared to its predecessor. In fact, reviews were even more unfavourable this time around.
The sci-fi sequel currently boasts a dismal 15% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with a slightly better – but still unfavorable – audience score of 52%.
Despite the critical backlash, Snyder maintains a steadfast and devoted fanbase who seem unfazed by the opinions of reviewers. As a result, “The Scargiver” has soared to the top spot as Netflix’s most-watched movie worldwide. Additionally, “A Child of Fire” has reclaimed its position in the top 10 and now ranks as the third most popular film on the streaming platform.
While it’s still early days, it will be intriguing to see how long “The Scargiver” can maintain its dominance. Nonetheless, Netflix must be pleased with the outcome, so it wouldn’t be surprising if a third instalment is announced in the future. After all, Snyder has already hinted at plans for a potential series of six films (brace yourselves).
“Four or six movies, depending… I guess it’s whether or not every time we make one of these movies we make two, that’s the question,” Snyder told the Radio Times in a recent interview. “We were talking about it the other day and I was like, would an audience be disappointed if they only got one movie now from Rebel Moon? Would they be like, ‘Oh, it’s one now? Great.’”
Rebel Moon – Part 2 sees the return of Sofia Boutella as Kora, the titular Scargiver, Michiel Huisman, Djimon Hounsou, Doona Bae, Staz Nair, Ed Skrein, and Anthony Hopkins as the voice of evolving robot guardian Jimmy. The sequel will also feature Fra Fee, Cleopatra Coleman, Stuart Martin, Ingvar Sigurðsson, Alfonso Herrera, Cary Elwes, Rhian Rees, Elise Duffy, Sky Yang, and Charlotte Maggi.
“Rebel Moon – Part Two: The Scargiver continues the epic saga of Kora and the surviving warriors as they prepare to sacrifice everything, fighting alongside the brave people of Veldt, to defend a once peaceful village, a newfound homeland for those who have lost their own in the fight against the Motherworld.
