For some DC aficionados this move to have DC content land on Disney+ becomes puzzling and confusing. Although with this move, Disney+ expands its already impressive collection, promising an electrifying mix of superhero action and fantastical adventures.
Wonder Woman 3
In 2017, “Wonder Woman,” directed by Patty Jenkins and starring Gal Gadot, took the world by storm, grossing over $824 million worldwide. Its success paved the way for a sequel, “Wonder Woman 1984,” released in 2020. While the follow-up didn’t quite match the acclaim of its predecessor, it still garnered attention.
However, amidst changes in leadership at DC Studios and mixed reception to “Wonder Woman 1984,” plans for a third installment were abruptly scrapped. This decision drew criticism from none other than original Wonder Woman series star Lynda Carter, who was poised to reprise her role in “Wonder Woman 3” after a cameo in the sequel.

What About Another Shazam! Movie?
Following a similar trajectory to the Wonder Woman franchise, the Shazam! series faced its own challenges. The initial movie debuted in 2019 to moderate success, followed by the release of “Shazam! Fury of the Gods” in 2023. However, the sequel’s performance at the box office fell short of expectations, casting doubt on the possibility of a third installment.
Despite this setback, hope for the franchise’s future remains. Jack Dylan Grazer, who starred in both films, recently hinted at a potential revival tied to the introduction of Black Adam. Grazer suggested that Black Adam’s storyline could pave the way for Shazam’s return to the DC Universe.
“While nothing is certain, Black Adam could be the catalyst for Shazam’s resurgence within that universe,” Grazer shared in a recent interview with CBR.
