In a recent interview with ComicBook.com, producer Keith Levine teased that a sequel to the 2022 Hulu release of Hellraiser may be in the works. Although Hulu has yet to make an official announcement, Levine hinted at active discussions regarding a follow-up film. Directed by David Bruckner, the reboot introduced Jamie Clayton as the new Pinhead, reviving the iconic character originally portrayed by Doug Bradley.

The film garnered significant attention upon its streaming debut, boasting impressive viewership numbers. While specific details remain under wraps, Levine tantalizingly revealed that the sequel’s tentative concepts promise to be ‘even crazier’ than its predecessor.

“We’re definitely working on a follow-up, and there have been discussions,” Levine revealed. “I can’t divulge the exact status of those talks, but David Bruckner is actively involved, and we’ve dedicated a lot of time and effort to revitalizing that universe. We’ve invested considerable brainpower into crafting the Cenobite design and strategizing how to bring them to life, and we’ve learned a great deal in the process.”

He continued, “Looking ahead, we’re excited that we’ve accumulated all this knowledge and experience. We believe that moving forward with another film will be even wilder and more spectacular. So yes, it’s something we’re diligently working on, and we hope to share more news soon.”

Doug Bradley Wants to Return as the Original Pinhead

The new installment in the Hellraiser franchise marks the eleventh film in the series, yet it functions as a reboot, offering a fresh interpretation of the original narrative. Inspired by Clive Barker’s novella “The Hellbound Heart,” the movie centers on a recovering addict whose encounter with a mysterious puzzle box unleashes the terrifying entities known as the “Cenobites.” This reimagining has garnered acclaim, even earning praise from original Pinhead actor Doug Bradley. Despite expressing his own desire to revisit the role for a legacy sequel, Bradley remains doubtful about the possibility.

“That would be the perfect bookend to my life in latex, if I can put it that way,” Bradley shared with Bloody Disgusting. “I’ve never completely turned my back on the character, but realistically, I think that’s probably that, and that’s fine. I’m proud of what we did with the movies, and I’m proud of my work in it. I’m cool with being where I am now.”

The Hellraiser reboot is currently available for streaming on Hulu.
