Exciting DCU News Caps Off the Week: DC Studios Confirms Live-Action Teen Titans Movie from Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow Writer.

Confirmation has arrived: a live-action Teen Titans movie is officially underway at DC Studios.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, playwright turned screenwriter Ana Nogueira has been enlisted to craft the screenplay, having impressed studio heads James Gunn and Peter Safran with her work on Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow.

Nogueira’s involvement with DC projects began quietly, initially hired to write a Supergirl movie during the development of a spin-off featuring Sasha Calle’s character from The Flash. However, with the shift in leadership at DC Studios, led by Gunn and Safran, the original plans were discarded, including Walter Hamada’s DCEU slate.

While Nogueira is recognized for her acting roles in The Vampire Diaries, The Michael J. Fox Show, and The Blacklist, she’s also establishing herself as a talented writer, with credits including the Broadway play Which Way to the Stage and an adaptation of Alice Sola Kim’s short story Mothers, Lock Up Your Daughters for Warner Bros. Discovery.

The report doesn’t provide insight into the specific direction of the Teen Titans project, leaving fans speculating about the lineup of heroes that will assemble for the cinematic adaptation.

It’s clearly very early days for the movie, anyway, so decisions like that are probably a long way off. Milly Alcock, who was recently cast as the DCU’s Supergirl, is 23 so probably won’t be among the heroes assembling in this project (unlike Titans, we’re hoping they’re actually teens).

Initially debuting in 1964, the team has a storied history in the DC Universe. The 2003 series, Teen Titans, brought together iconic characters such as Robin (Dick Grayson), Starfire, Cyborg, Beast Boy, and Raven under the guidance of writer Marv Wolfman and artist George Pérez. The series focused on the personal and heroic growth of its members as they balanced their lives as teenagers with their responsibilities as heroes.

Notable storylines have included battles against foes like Deathstroke, Trigon, and the Brotherhood of Evil.

With Damian Wayne set to be introduced as a 10-year-old in The Brave and the Bold, it’s possible he’ll take Dick’s place in this version of the team. Ultimately, it’s too soon to say and we wouldn’t anticipate seeing this one in theaters until 2026 or 2027 at the earliest. No director is currently attached.
