Johnny Blaze Makes a Deal With Mephisto
Debuting in Marvel Spotlight #5 back in 1972, Johnny Blaze’s origin story is steeped in tragedy and deals with dark forces beyond comprehension.
Born into a family of daredevil riders, Johnny is the son of Barton Blaze and Naomi Kale, who, along with their close friend Crash Simpson, formed a tight-knit group of thrill-seekers. However, their lives took a drastic turn when Crash was diagnosed with terminal cancer.
Desperate to save his friend, Johnny struck a deal with the demonic entity Mephisto, offering his service in exchange for Crash’s cure. Little did Johnny know, Mephisto had sinister plans in store.
Tragically, Mephisto orchestrated a fatal accident that claimed Crash’s life, leaving Johnny to face the consequences of their pact.
In a cruel twist of fate, Johnny found himself bonded with the spirit of the demon Zarathos, enslaved by Mephisto centuries ago. Empowered by Zarathos’ infernal abilities, Johnny transformed into the Ghost Rider, a relentless force of vengeance.
With his newfound powers, the Ghost Rider embarked on a journey of justice, spreading fear among the wicked and punishing those deserving of his wrath across the globe.
In recent years, Johnny Blaze found an unlikely ally in former S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Talia Warroad. Reassigned to the F.B.I. as their leading expert on supernatural phenomena, Talia joined forces with Ghost Rider to combat the resurgence of the sinister Cult of Mephisto, a group she was once unwittingly ensnared by.
Their partnership led them into confrontation with formidable adversaries, including the malevolent demon Blackheart and a covert organization hell-bent on harnessing the power of the Ghost Rider for their own nefarious purposes.
Now, as Ghost Rider: Final Vengeance #1 hits shelves on March 13 from Marvel Comics, fans can expect an electrifying continuation of Johnny and Talia’s crusade against the forces of darkness.
