Perrette emphasized the company’s desire to expand further into the realm of free-to-play and live service games, aiming to navigate away from the unpredictable nature of high-budget game releases.

The past year has been a rollercoaster for Warner Bros. While they celebrated the success of Hogwarts Legacy in 2023, hailed as “the best-selling game of the year in the entire industry worldwide,” the tide turned with the underwhelming performance of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League in the following year. This setback prompted Warner Bros to face “a tough year-over-year comp” in its first financial quarter, necessitating a revaluation of long-term strategy.
Perrette outlined the company’s intention to adopt a more comprehensive approach to its core franchises – Mortal Kombat, Game of Thrones, Harry Potter, and DC – with a focus on expanding into the mobile and multi-platform free-to-play space. Warner Bros plans to roll out several free-to-play mobile games later this year to support this initiative.
