However, recent updates from THR have put rumours to rest. It’s now official: Season 2 is slated for a 2024 release on Prime Video, offering relief to worried fans who feared a delay until 2025.
The long-awaited confirmation of The Rings of Power’s release window has arrived alongside intriguing hints of a potential third season. While Season 3 has yet to receive an official announcement from Amazon, showrunners Patrick McKay and JD Payne have signed a new three-year deal with Amazon MGM Studios to expand the franchise.
Reports also indicate a shift in production locations, with plans to move from Bray Studios to Shepperton Studios, adding further anticipation for what lies ahead in the epic saga.

Vernon Sanders, the head of television at Amazon MGM Studios, has confirmed a new deal amid speculation about the future of The Rings of Power. While he stopped short of confirming a third season explicitly, Sanders praised the series’ success, hinting at positive developments behind the scenes.
The uncertainty surrounding a potential renewal leaves fans wondering if an official announcement will precede Season 2’s premiere or if Amazon will wait to gauge audience response before committing to another season.
