As production for the highly-anticipated second season of HBO’s The Last of Us unfolds in Vancouver, the network has unveiled the latest additions to the ensemble cast, filling pivotal roles from the acclaimed video game sequel.
Joining the production are Danny Ramirez, Ariela Barer, Tati Gabrielle, and Spencer Lord. Fans familiar with The Last of Us Part II will likely recognize these characters from the game, as their roles are set to be brought to life on screen.
Danny Ramirez (known for Top Gun: Maverick) steps into the shoes of Manny, a steadfast soldier grappling with past traumas and the looming fear of letting down his comrades when they need him most. Meanwhile, Ariela Barer (from How to Blow Up a Pipeline) portrays Mel, a dedicated young doctor confronting the harsh realities of conflict and tribal divisions.
Tati Gabrielle, recognized for her role in You, takes on the character of Nora, a military medic wrestling with the consequences of her past actions. Lastly, Spencer Lord (seen in Heartland) embodies Owen, a compassionate fighter caught in the turmoil of war, refusing to succumb to hatred.

Returning to reprise their lead roles are Bella Ramsey as Ellie and Pedro Pascal as Joel.
The Last of Us is set two decades after the collapse of civilization and follows the journey of Joel, a smuggler, and Ellie, a teenager who may hold the key to a cure for a deadly pandemic. Their story begins when Joel is hired to smuggle Ellie out of an oppressive quarantine zone, leading to a harrowing journey across the U.S. where they rely on each other for survival.
Season 1’s cast featured an array of talented actors including Gabriel Luna as Tommy, Anna Torv as Tess, and Nico Parker as Sarah, among others.
The series is written and executive produced by Neil Druckmann and Craig Mazin, with Carolyn Strauss, Evan Wells, and others serving as executive producers.
