New ‘Game of Thrones’ Series in the Works: ‘Aegon’s Conquest’ Prequel by Mattson Tomlin at HBO

HBO is expanding the ‘Game of Thrones’ universe once again with another spinoff in development from writer Mattson Tomlin, known for his work on ‘The Batman’ and more.

House of the Dragon

Titled ‘Aegon’s Conquest,’ this new series serves as a direct prequel to ‘House of the Dragon.’ According to THR, the series will chronicle the Targaryen family’s ruthless conquest of Westeros, led by Aegon Targaryen and his sister wives, Rhaenys and Visenya, alongside their dragons. Aegon famously unified six of the Seven Kingdoms within two years, with only Dorne offering significant resistance.

Mattson Tomlin confirmed the news via Twitter, sharing the THR article. Tomlin, who collaborated with director Matt Reeves on ‘The Batman’ script, is also credited as co-writer for ‘The Batman Part II.’

In addition to ‘Aegon’s Conquest,’ Tomlin is involved in various other projects including the Netflix Terminator Anime, the adaptation of Keanu Reeves’ graphic novel ‘BRZRKR,’ the upcoming Mega Man movie, and the Netflix film ‘Project Power’ starring Jamie Foxx.

Meanwhile, ‘House of the Dragon’ Season 2 is currently in development, with an expected release date in the summer of 2024 on HBO.
