Set in the bustling streets of New York City, this latest installment follows the Spengler family’s return after the events of 2021’s “Ghostbusters: Afterlife.” Dr. Winston Zeddemore, played by Ernie Hudson, has resurrected the Ghostbusters brand, and the iconic team is once again headquartered in the New York City firehouse.
But not everyone is thrilled about their comeback. William Atherton’s Walter Peck holds a decades-old grudge against the Ghostbusters, and his disdain is palpable in the trailer. It seems old rivalries die hard, even after nearly 40 years.
Adding to the excitement, the trailer hints at a more significant role for the original Ghostbusters. Annie Potts’ Janine Melnitz joins the action, donning the iconic Ghostbuster uniform and embracing the thrill of the ghostbusting world. Fans will be delighted to see Bill Murray’s Dr. Peter Venkman back in action alongside his old comrades.

Sony Pictures’ “Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire” marks the fourth installment in the original Ghostbusters timeline and the fifth movie overall in the beloved franchise.
After the triumph of “Ghostbusters: Afterlife,” Sony wasted no time in announcing the then-untitled “Frozen Empire” during its CinemaCon 2022 presentation. The anticipation grew as fans eagerly awaited more ghostbusting adventures.
In December 2022, a significant change occurred behind the scenes. Gil Kenan, known for his work on “Monster House” and co-writing “Afterlife” with Jason Reitman, stepped in to replace Reitman as director of “Frozen Empire.” Despite this shift, Jason Reitman, son of original Ghostbusters director Ivan Reitman, remains involved in the project, maintaining his position as a co-writer and producer.
With a blend of new talent and seasoned veterans guiding the way, “Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire” promises to be another exciting chapter in the iconic franchise.

The official synopsis for “Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire” sets the stage for an epic return to where it all began: the iconic New York City firehouse. The Spengler family reunites with the original Ghostbusters, who have established a top-secret research lab dedicated to advancing their ghostbusting capabilities. However, their reunion takes a sinister turn when the discovery of an ancient artifact unleashes a malevolent force, threatening not only their home but also the entire world with a second Ice Age.
Returning to their roles are familiar faces such as Dan Aykroyd as Dr. Raymond Stantz, Finn Wolfhard as Trevor Spengler, McKenna Grace as Phoebe Spengler, Paul Rudd as Gary Grooberson, Carrie Coon as Callie Spengler, Logan Kim as Podcast, and Celeste O’Connor as Lucky Domingo. Joining the ensemble are new additions including Kumail Nanjiani as Nadeem Razmaadi, Patton Oswalt as Dr. Hubert Wartzki, and James Acaster as Lars Pinfield. Additionally, Emily Alyn Lind has been cast in a mysterious role, adding to the intrigue surrounding the film. With this star-studded cast and an enticing plot, “Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire” promises to deliver another thrilling installment in the beloved franchise.
