What we currently know about the cast is that Gerard Butler reprises his role as Stoick the Vast, a character he previously voiced in the animated movies. Nick Frost, known for Shaun of the Dead, takes on the live-action portrayal of Gobber the Belch, the skilled blacksmith. Additionally, Mason Thames from The Black Phone and Nico Parker from The Last of Us assume the lead roles of Hiccup and Astrid, respectively.
Initially slated for a 2023 commencement, filming on the How to Train Your Dragon remake faced delays, leading to a rescheduled release date of March 2025. The setback resulted from a production hiatus prompted by the SAG-AFTRA strike. Fortunately, the cameras started rolling again on January 15.
