After a brief hiatus over the long weekend, Superman has resumed shooting. Filmmaker James Gunn was spotted directing a large group of terrified extras, though the cast has yet to appear on set.
These extras are seen running from an unknown threat as pedestrians and motorists flee Metropolis. This mysterious event might be connected to the strange orb seen in the sky during our first look at David Corenswet in his Man of Steel suit.
A map of Metropolis, the “City of Tomorrow,” has also been spotted, packed with Easter Eggs for DC Comics fans. One person likely to appreciate these details is Hawkgirl actress Isabela Merced. In a recent interview, she shared, “Honestly, inside I’m just a nerdy guy. I feel like that’s who I actually am. I’m geeking out every time I try on the supersuit! It’s just the coolest thing in the world to me.”
Gunn, known for his fanboy enthusiasm—especially for Superman, as evidenced by his previous social media posts—promises to fill the movie with numerous nods to the comic books.

Superman follows the journey of the titular hero as he strives to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing in Smallville, Kansas, embodying truth, justice, and the American way. Guided by human kindness in a world that often views it as old-fashioned, Superman’s story is both timeless and relevant.
