Earlier today, the first trailer for “Venom: The Last Dance” dropped, and it unmistakably continues the Venom saga.

Whether that’s a positive or negative is for you to decide. Regardless, this trilogy’s grand finale promises a larger-scale adventure than its predecessors, with the three-minute sneak peek offering plenty to talk about.

In this feature, we dive into everything you need to know about the threequel’s villains, crucial plot points, key characters, and potentially revealing moments that better define this movie’s place… in the Multiverse?!

1. Peter Parker?

Recently, a rumoured plot leak suggested that “Venom: The Last Dance” will follow Eddie Brock as he sets out to kill, and ultimately protect, his Earth’s Variant of Peter Parker.

While some speculate this could involve Peter, Mary Parker, and May Parker, it’s unlikely. Integrating this subplot into what already appears to be a busy movie seems implausible. More likely, this family is one the Lethal Protector encounters on his journey.

The anti-hero will feel compelled to protect them, possibly leading to the death of one or two family members. Given Sony’s tendencies, the kid might be named “Pete” and could become Kid Venom in the closing moments of the threequel. However, a legitimate Spider-Man villain may still factor into the movie…

2.Venom Horse

Part of us appreciates the attempts to do something “new” with the Venom Symbiote, but at this point, Eddie Brock has become a full-blown caricature.

Comedy is one thing, but what Sony has done with Venom is akin to making Captain America a mental asylum escapee who paints himself red, white, and blue to fight crime. Eddie has become a parody of his comic book counterpart, and this scene, while harmless, is idiotic.

Can the franchise be saved after “Venom: The Last Dance”? With a total creative overhaul, perhaps. Unfortunately, the damage may already be too great to recover from at this point.

3. Death of Venom/Eddie Brock?

All signs point to “Venom: The Last Dance” being the final time Tom Hardy plays Eddie Brock. That likely won’t upset many fans, as the anti-hero seems to be in a bad way here.

This could very well be Eddie’s last stand, with Venom taking control of a dying Eddie to save the world. A heroic sacrifice, with a hint of an eventual return, feels like a predictably fitting way for Sony to end this franchise.

One thing we can safely say is that Marvel Studios likely doesn’t have plans for Hardy or Eddie in the MCU. In fact, this trailer seems to retcon a key scene from “Spider-Man: No Way Home.”

4. Toxin Symbiote

In a very weird moment at the end of “Venom: Let There Be Carnage,” Detective Pat Mulligan appeared to get a Symbiote of his own, setting the stage for Toxin to make his debut.

In the new trailer, he returns, seemingly fully possessed by the alien. The subtitles identify him as “Toxin,” and it’s clear from Pat’s voice that he’s not alone in his cell.

Whether this is the extent of his role in the threequel remains to be seen. It could be a forgettable cameo with no significant screen time for Pat in his Toxin form. Either way, we’re hoping for an assembly of Symbiotes for an epic battle…after all, it might just be enough to redeem this franchise. Or not.

5. Giant Monster Villain (The Xenophage)

A fun way to end the Venom trilogy might have been to bring Knull to Earth for an epic showdown with Venom. However, that’s something Sony really needed to lay the groundwork for in earlier movies.

Instead, the alien creatures in this trailer bear an uncanny resemblance to the Xenophage. They first appeared in 1996’s “Venom: The Hunted ,” feeding off symbiotes with an “incendiary neurotoxin” that can paralyze the aliens (making them dead weight to their hosts) and enhance their taste.

Has someone sent them after Venom, or are these monsters the reason the alien fled his homeworld in the first place? Either is possible, but they appear to be little more than cannon fodder in this story.

6. Other Symbiotes?

While he’s never named, Chiwetel Ejiofor is almost certainly playing General Orwell Taylor, a military man with a grudge against Eddie Brock who is determined to do whatever it takes to protect Earth.

Based on the armored goons who pursue Eddie, it looks like Taylor will have The Jury working for him, albeit in a more grounded version with standard tactical gear.

Crucially, this group also possesses several Symbiotes. One of them has the same colour scheme as Scream, an alien we suspect will possess Juno Temple’s Dr. Payne, a newly created character.
