Valentina Allegra De Fontaine, known for her extensive involvement in various schemes in the comics, is rumoured to introduce a significant organization in the upcoming “Thunderbolts” movie. This development could have major ramifications for the MCU.

Contessa Valentina Allegra De Fontaine is no stranger to shady dealings, and while her impact in the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been minimal so far, she’s been involved in numerous schemes in the comics for years.

Portrayed by Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Val is expected to assemble the team in the upcoming “Thunderbolts” movie. However, rumours suggest she may also be leading another shadowy organization, adding another layer of intrigue to her character.

According to The Cosmic Circus, Valentina Allegra De Fontaine’s OXE Group (or O.X.E.) will be featured in the upcoming “Thunderbolts” movie. While the extent of their role remains uncertain, this organization could have major implications for the wider MCU going forward.

In the comics, OXE is the largest holding company in the world, connected to the secretive Kratos Club, a group of industrial multimillionaires who use their influence to ensure the right things get done, no matter the cost. The more recent incarnation, known as O.X.E., is affiliated with the Outer Circle, an organization that has controlled global politics and government.

The most recent iteration of OXE in the comics, is referred to as O.X.E. instead. Why the variation, is currently unclear. O.X.E. has had just three appearances in Earth-616 so far, first debuting in Thunderbolts (Vol. 5)  in December 2023.

Interestingly, this version of O.X.E. was founded by a Life-Model Decoy of Allegra de Fontaine. However, it’s unlikely that the movie will adapt this recent comic book arc directly.

While it’s unclear how significant OXE/O.X.E.’s presence will be in the movie, if they do feature prominently, we can expect to see a lot more of them in the future.

As we already know, Marvel doesn’t adapt stories or even characters for film and TV without at least some tweaks. This comic book is definitely not the same story as the upcoming film. But there are at least a few similarities with Thunderbolts*, as the new comic series brings in not only Bucky Barnes, but Yelena Belova and Alexei Shostakov (aka Red Guardian) as allies. Valentina’s questionable motives, and the idea that she may betray Bucky and the Thunderbolts down the road, is certainly a theme I could see coming up again in the upcoming film.

In this Earth-616 series, O.X.E. was affiliated with the Outer Circle, a powerful secret group that has influenced the world by controlling global politics and government (which sounds similar to The Kratos Club mentioned above). Because of this affiliation, O.X.E. is privy to so much information, making them dangerous. In the new comics’ storyline, Bucky Barnes approaches Val about using O.X.E. to do some good in the world.

The Thunderbolts Set Photos

Set photos from “Thunderbolts*” have started surfacing online, offering fans a glimpse of Sebastian Stan’s Bucky Barnes sporting a longer hairstyle and goatee.

The Thunderbolts* roster is shaping up with an impressive lineup, featuring Red Guardian (David Harbour), Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen), Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh), Bucky Barnes/The Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan), John Walker/U.S. Agent (Wyatt Russell), and Taskmaster (Kurylenko).

Adding to the mix, Lewis Pullman (known for “Salem’s Lot” and “Top Gun Maverick”) has stepped into the role of Sentry, a powerful and unstable character, taking over from Steven Yeun.

While rumors have swirled about Harrison Ford’s Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross potentially joining the team, there’s been no official confirmation yet. Additionally, there are whispers of appearances by Black Widow’s Melina Vostokoff (Rachel Weisz) and Bill Foster (Laurence Fishburne) from “Ant-Man and the Wasp.”

Mark your calendars for Thunderbolts* hitting theatres on May 2, 2025.
