The unveiling of the new limited edition high-end John Wick pinball machine by Stern Pinball has stirred up quite a buzz.
Renowned for their epic pinball machines, Stern’s latest creation had fans eagerly awaiting its release. However, excitement turned to surprise when enthusiasts noticed a significant departure from the franchise’s trademark imagery: the absence of guns. In a bold move towards social consciousness, the game goes “woke,” opting out of featuring firearms—a defining element of the John Wick movies.

All the weapons but NO GUNS!
The artwork of the pinball machine showcases an array of weapons, including swords, knives, nunchucks (complete with the amusing “shoot again” label), and even spears—although one might wonder if spears make an appearance in the movies at all!
In the trailer, which you can watch below, Ian McShane lends his voice to the character of Winston, declaring, “Let’s get you a weapon.” However, contrary to expectations, guns are notably absent from the game.
McShane’s line, “Do what you do best,” a clear reference to John Wick’s penchant for dispatching adversaries, is underscored by footage from the movies. Interestingly, none of this footage features firearms—a significant departure from the franchise’s signature weaponry.

Only 1000 Machines Available
It’s indeed peculiar considering the exclusivity and price tag of these pinball machines—coming in at a hefty $12,999.00 each—that they’re not necessarily aimed at children. After all, kids are often exposed to gun-themed games without much fuss.
The decision to exclude guns from the John Wick pinball game raises questions about who made the call. While Lionsgate owns the intellectual property, it’s probable that they licensed the John Wick franchise to Stern Pinball. However, Stern’s previous James Bond pinball prominently features a gun, so it’s unclear if the decision came from them.
Stern announced on social media that the ‘John Wick’ Pinball Limited Edition model, limited to just 1,000 units worldwide, boasts an array of features, including the Expression Lighting System™ and Speaker Expression Lighting, synchronized to custom light shows. The Limited Edition version also sports exclusive artwork by Randy Martinez, custom pinball armor, upgraded audio, anti-reflection playfield glass, and more.
Despite these impressive features, the absence of guns in the game remains disappointing. You can check out the trailers below to see for yourself.

Do you think it’s a step in the right direction towards social responsibility, or do you feel it detracts from the authenticity of the franchise? We’d love to hear your take on this issue.
