In the midst of turmoil, the Helldivers 2 community, particularly on PC, has faced a tumultuous period following Sony’s directive requiring all players to link a PSN account to Steam for continued gameplay.

The aftermath of this announcement has been marked by a surge of over 170,000 negative reviews for Helldivers 2 as seen in the simplified chart below. Developers have actively encouraged this response, leveraging it in their battle against Sony’s decision, pushing for a reversal.

Amidst the uncertainty, numerous players had hoped for uninterrupted adventures on Super Earth, clinging to the hope that no further restrictions would disrupt their quest for intergalactic democracy. However, recent updates to the Steam database reveal otherwise, as players from 168 countries and territories now find themselves restricted from purchasing Helldivers 2 & many beginning to message steam for refunds with some users succeeding and some still actively trying.

Game Removed from Countries without PSN (Purchase Button Missing)

A recent entry on Steamdb.info labeled ‘Changelist 23416542’ has unveiled a concerning development: a list of countries now marked as ‘PurchaseRestrictedCountries.’ This designation implies that when players from these regions visit the Helldivers 2 Steam page, they will find no purchase button available. As of now, it remains uncertain whether existing players from these countries will still be able to launch the game.
Many of us have encountered situations where games fail to launch due to PC issues rather than inherent problems with the game itself. Therefore, we must exercise caution before levying accusations until further clarity is provided.

There are two countries in the Change Log that state “Unknown country code: FX” so we are unable to confirm which countries they are.
Indeed, this is an incredibly concerning period for the Helldivers 2 community, raising significant uncertainty about the game’s future and potentially impacting future PC ports of PlayStation titles, such as the highly anticipated Ghost of Tsushima port. The resolution of this issue remains unclear, and only time will reveal whether all players can resume their Helldiving adventures without restrictions.
Rest assured, we are committed to keeping you informed about all the latest developments surrounding this situation. Stay tuned for updates as we navigate through this turbulent time together.
