Now streaming on Netflix, “Rebel Moon – Part 2: The Scargiver” unveils a pivotal “calm before the storm” sequence, as director Zack Snyder discloses its original conception for his envisioned Justice League sequel.
In this significant moment, Kora and her comrades engage in a reflective discussion, delving into their pasts and motivations that led them to confront the Imperium, with each character’s backstory unveiled through poignant flashbacks.
Having meticulously planned two sequels to Justice League, Snyder’s vision was unfortunately curtailed after his departure from the initial film following the tragic loss of his daughter, Autumn. Speaking with THR, the director elaborated on how this poignant “Last Supper” scene would have played out in Justice League 2.

“There absolutely is a Last Supper in Justice League 2, and the scene had them telling the stories of how they got there, because Justice League 2 was going to open with us now 10 years in the future. And yes, [Rebel Moon — Part Two’s sequence] has a similar sort of structure to the Justice League 2 scene that we have.”
In a separate interview with GQ, Snyder reiterated that the sequels would have primarily focused on Superman’s battle with Darkseid.
“At his peak, [Superman] was going to have to succumb to the anti-life, be destroyed, turn the clock back, and then get his chance for this battle with Darkseid that would have finished the trilogy… and sort of return him to his humanity. That was our hope.”
Snyder also states that there is one project he would return to DC for: A live-action adaptation of The Dark Knight Returns starring Henry Cavill as Superman and Ben Affleck as Batman.
The chances of us ever seeing it seem very slim, but we know that the new DCU will also include “Elseworlds” projects, so who knows what could happen down the line?
