Today, as filming for the new Superman movie kicks into gear, the casting spotlight shifts to the pivotal roles of the Man of Steel’s Earth parents, Ma and Pa Kent. While speculation simmered over these crucial characters, a big reveal has emerged.
Veteran character actor Pruitt Taylor Vince, known for his versatile performances, steps into the role of Pa Kent. Vince, aged 63, brings his acclaimed talent to this iconic character, following his Emmy-winning portrayal in the 1997 legal drama, Murder One. Fans may also recognize him from recent roles in Bird Box, Gotti, and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
Notably, this isn’t the first time Pa Kent has graced the screen; Kevin Costner and Glenn Ford have previously tackled the role in different Superman iterations.

Meanwhile, amidst the buzz, director James Gunn addressed swirling rumours about the film’s antagonist. Will Lex Luthor craft a formidable foe for David Corenswet’s Clark Kent, possibly in the form of Bizarro or Ultraman?
Gunn goes on to say the following on social media:
“The primary protagonist of Superman is, shockingly, Superman. The main villain of Superman is, shockingly, Lex Luthor. I don’t know where all the stuff is coming from that it’s something other than this.”
“There are so many stories coming out every day it’s difficult to deal with and every time I strike something down, I’m giving it attention. So, I’ll say again, don’t believe anything unless you see it HERE (& why would you want to know everything before the movie comes out anyway?“

Superman 2025, the highly anticipated reboot of the DCEU, is currently in production at a soundstage in Atlanta, with Ohio poised as the next filming location, potentially featuring the iconic Hall of Justice.
Director James Gunn is pulling double duty, as he juggles filming for Peacemaker season 2, also underway in Atlanta.
As cameras prepare to roll in open settings, fans eagerly await the first official glimpse of David Corenswet’s portrayal of the Man of Steel.
This James Gunn-helmed and written epic stars Corenswet as Kal-El/Clark Kent, alongside a stellar cast including Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner/Green Lantern, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, and Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific.
Completing the ensemble are Sean Gunn as Maxwell Lord, María Gabriela de Faría as Angela Spica/The Engineer, Terence Rosemore as Otis, Wendell Pierce as Perry White, Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher, and Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho.
Furthermore, Gunn confirms Nicholas Hoult’s portrayal of the iconic villain Lex Luthor, while Milly Alcock joins the cast as Supergirl, potentially making an appearance in Superman 2025.
Scheduled for release on July 11, 2025, Superman 2025 marks the dawn of Gunn’s revitalization of the DCEU.
