In a surprising turn of events, it was revealed last May that Amy Adams would headline the upcoming horror comedy “Nightbitch”. Now, the film has officially locked in its release date.

According to Searchlight Pictures, “Nightbitch” is slated to hit theatres on December 6th of this year.

While the announcement lacked any accompanying posters or promotional images, a glimpse of the title treatment offers a tantalizing preview of what’s to come.

NightBitch Movie Amy Adams

As per the official synopsis, “Nightbitch” delves into the tale of a woman adjusting to the mundane routine of suburban motherhood, caring for her toddler at home. However, her journey takes a peculiar turn as she begins to embrace a primal power linked to motherhood, gradually becoming aware of strange and unmistakable signs hinting at a transformation into a canine.

Marielle Heller, known for her work on “Can You Ever Forgive Me?,” is set to direct the project, which was acquired by the studio from Annapurna.

“Rachel Yoder’s book took my breath away. I haven’t felt this way about [a] book since I read The Diary of a Teenage Girl many years ago,” said Heller. “Rachel’s darkly hilarious tale of motherhood and rage made me feel seen. And adapting it with Amy Adams in mind has been the thing that has kept me going through the pandemic. I am so thrilled to be bringing this movie to life with wonderful partners in Anne Carey, Annapurna Pictures, and Searchlight. It is a dream come true.”

The premise of “Nightbitch” is undeniably intriguing, offering a refreshingly unconventional storyline. As anticipation builds for the release of the first trailer, which promises to shed more light on this uniquely bizarre tale, audiences eagerly await further details.

Set to debut as a Hulu Original in the U.S., “Nightbitch” is expected to hit screens this fall, adding to the excitement surrounding its imminent arrival.

In addition to her role in “Nightbitch,” Amy Adams is set to star alongside Jenna Ortega in Taika Waititi’s adaptation of the sci-fi novel “Klara and the Sun.” Adams portrays the mother of Josie, a teenager grappling with a mysterious ailment. In a poignant twist, she adopts an “Artificial Friend” named Klara (portrayed by Ortega) to provide companionship for her daughter, setting the stage for a thought-provoking exploration of human connection and technology.
