Director Jeff Fowler took to social media (via GameFragger.com) to announce the completion of shooting for the highly-anticipated Sonic the Hedgehog 3. Notably, his clapperboard adorned with various characters, including Sonic, Tails, Knuckles…and Shadow!

Following the setup in Sonic the Hedgehog 2, fans can anticipate the appearance of this beloved character in the upcoming sequel. However, the voice behind the anti-hero, created by Robotnik’s grandfather, remains a mystery, with Keanu Reeves being a popular suggestion among fans.

The star-studded cast from the previous films is set to return, including Ben Schwartz as Sonic, Colleen O’Shaughnessey as Tails, Idris Elba as Knuckles, James Marsden as Tom Wachowski, and Tika Sumpter as Maddie Wachowski. Joining the franchise are new faces such as Krysten Ritter, Alyla Browne, James Wolk, Sofia Pernas, Cristo Fernández, and Jorma Taccone, adding further excitement to the ensemble.

While plot details remain scarce, it’s been confirmed that Jim Carrey will reprise his role as the villainous Doctor Robotnik.

Knuckles Series

The new live-action event series delves into the title character’s uproarious and action-packed journey of self-discovery, as he takes on the task of mentoring Wade (played by Adam Pally) and imparting the ways of the Echidna warrior. Positioned between the events of Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and Sonic the Hedgehog 3, the series promises an exciting narrative arc.

Joining the ensemble cast are esteemed guest stars including Stockard Channing, Edi Patterson, Scott Mescudi, Ellie Taylor, Julian Barratt, Rory McCann, Cary Elwes, Christopher Lloyd, Paul Scheer, and Rob Huebel.

Notably, Ben Schwartz reprises his role as Sonic in a special guest appearance, alongside Tika Sumpter returning as Maddie. Colleen O’Shaughnessey also makes a comeback as Tails in a special guest star role.

The series boasts the return of the key creative team from the previous films, with director/executive producer Jeff Fowler helming the pilot episode and ensuring a seamless transition of the film’s signature cinematic animation style to the television format.

Accompanied by a captivating poster, the series hints at a thrilling adventure for Knuckles, promising an entertaining and dynamic viewing experience.

Knuckles is set to premiere on Paramount+ on April 26, while Sonic the Hedgehog 3 will race into theatres on December 20.
