In a moment of anticipation and excitement, the Academy Awards has just revealed Emma Stone as the recipient of the esteemed Best Actress award.

During Sunday evening’s Academy Awards ceremony, the highly anticipated winner for Best Actress was finally unveiled towards the end of the night. The prestigious award was bestowed upon Emma Stone for her captivating portrayal in the acclaimed film “Poor Things.” Among the nominees in this fiercely competitive category were Annette Bening for “Nyad,” Sandra Hüller for “Anatomy of a Fall,” Carey Mulligan for “Maestro,” and of course, Emma Stone for “Poor Things.”

As she took to the stage to accept her well-deserved accolade, Emma Stone was visibly moved, her emotions palpable as she fought back tears during her heartfelt acceptance speech. It was a poignant moment that captured the essence of her talent and the significance of this milestone achievement in her career.

Predicting the winner for Best Actress at the Academy Awards proved to be a challenge, with contenders like Carey Mulligan expressing the significance of such recognition. Mulligan emphasized the importance of award wins, stating in an interview with the Times of London, “It’s just the coolest thing [to be nominated]. Because it’s from your peers. It’s wicked.” She dismissed claims from other actors who downplayed the importance of awards, asserting, “They are 100 percent lying.”

Emma Stone’s victory for “Poor Things” marks her second Academy Award win for acting, following her previous triumph for Best Actress in “La La Land.” The moment wasn’t without humor, as Oscars host Jimmy Kimmel joked about the infamous mix-up when “La La Land” was mistakenly announced as the winner for Best Picture. Stone has also received nominations in the Best Supporting Actress category for her roles in “Birdman” (2015) and “The Favourite” (2019).

Emma Stone Is Grateful for the Nomination (and Win)

“I’m so grateful and I feel so lucky,” Stone said of the Oscar nomination for Poor Things while on Good Morning America. “The best picture thing … we worked on this movie for such a long time, and for the whole crew of this film and the cast, we’re very excited.”

On her character in the film, Stone added, “I absolutely love her. Although I’ve said that many times now and I feel like it’s a little bit unfair, because I think that the characters I’ve been lucky enough to play have been the perfect character for that time in my life.”

Poor Things was up for many other big awards at the Oscars, including the coveted Best Picture honor. The other wins it picked up alongside Stone’s were Oscars for Best Production Design, Best Makeup and Hairstyling, and Best Costume Design.

Poor Things is streaming on Hulu.
