James Gunn has provided intriguing insights into the upcoming second season of “Peacemaker,” affirming that the events of Season 1 are not aligned with the new DC Extended Universe (DCU) canon.

James Gunn has recently taken to Threads to provide updates on the highly anticipated second season of “Peacemaker.” Fans received intriguing revelations following follow-up questions, particularly concerning filming schedules.

Gunn responded to Jennifer Holland’s (Emilia Harcourt) mention of filming beginning in the summer, confirming plans for Season 2 of “Peacemaker” to be shot concurrently with Superman.

“The source is kind of iffy but this is true,” Gunn began. “John Cena shared this on Howard Stern last week. To answer your follow-up questions: yes, we’ll be shooting Superman & Peacemaker simultaneously; yes, I’ve written all the episodes; but, no, in the interest of getting the show out there I won’t be able to direct them all (only some); & yes, Waller’s still happening & Jeremy & Christal are hard at work writing great stuff, but the schedule was impacted by the strikes so it’ll come after Peacemaker.”

James Gunn’s recent revelation regarding “Peacemaker” Season 2 being part of the new DC Extended Universe (DCU) alongside his role as co-CEO of DC Studios with Peter Safran has raised eyebrows. Interestingly, while Season 2 aligns with the new DCU, the first season does not.

The inclusion of the Justice League in the Season 1 finale may have contributed to this discrepancy, marking a unique situation where two seasons of the same series exist within different continuities.

Gunn also disclosed that Season 2 of “Peacemaker” will take place after the events of Superman’s reboot, suggesting that the new Superman film will have a significant impact on the Max series. While the possibility of Peacemaker characters appearing in Superman isn’t guaranteed, post-credits scenes could offer intriguing connections.
