It appears Spider-Man 2 DLC is on the horizon, as the latest game patch hints at Janice Lincoln, aka The Beetle, taking centre stage in the upcoming expansion.
Last year, Spider-Man 2 hit the shelves to rave reviews, but gamers were left wanting more from its brief storyline. Despite a thrilling Venom versus Kraven the Hunter showdown, Venom’s role was disappointingly minimal, and the final act felt too reminiscent of Spider-Man: Web of Shadows.
However, Insomniac Games faced a major setback when a hack exposed sensitive details about their upcoming projects, including a Wolverine video game, tentative plans for Spider-Man 3, and a Venom spin-off, much earlier than anticipated.
While Insomniac Games remained tight-lipped about the hack, a recent patch for Spider-Man 2, introducing New Game+, inadvertently revealed a developmental menu accessible during gameplay. This unintended discovery, unrelated to the hack, sheds light on a potential blunder by the game developers.
Reports from GameFragger.com suggest that amidst this data, there are intriguing hints about an upcoming DLC titled “Beetle Villain Arc.” This leak confirms the inclusion of Janice Lincoln, Tombstone’s daughter, as the Beetle within this Spider-Verse. These revelations align with last year’s hack, which also mentioned Janice Lincoln and hinted at DLC centered around Carnage.
While fans eagerly await an official announcement from Insomniac Games regarding DLC and spin-off plans, the prospect of pitting Spider-Men against Beetle promises exciting gameplay. With Peter Parker temporarily hanging up the webs, the focus is expected to shift primarily to Miles Morales in this new adventure.
