Yoshimi Yasuda, Producer at Dragami Games, Unveils Key Feature for Lollipop Chainsaw: RePOP Remaster.
The producer of the upcoming Lollipop Chainsaw: RePOP has officially confirmed a significant feature: players will have the option to select between English and Japanese dub voices. Lollipop Chainsaw: RePOP serves as a remaster of the 2012 original game released on PS3 and Xbox 360. Initially announced as a remake, the project was later scaled back to focus solely on remastering the beloved title. Originally slated for a 2023 release, the game’s launch was postponed to Summer 2024.

Yoshimi Yasuda, the producer of the Lollipop Chainsaw remaster, has been actively engaging with fans on Twitter, providing updates on the game’s development progress. In one of his recent posts, Yasuda highlighted the inclusion of multiple voice acting options as a key feature.
The original Lollipop Chainsaw enjoyed an early release in North America, preceding its launch in other regions, including Japan. The English dub cast boasted several notable actors lending their talents to the game, such as Tara Strong as Juliet Starling, Sean Gunn as Swan, and Michael Rooker as Vikke. However, the Japanese dub was absent from the initial English release, featuring its own set of renowned voice actors. Interestingly, the Japanese version even offered two different voice actors for Juliet Starling, depending on the platform version.
According to Yoshimi Yasuda, fans of Lollipop Chainsaw: RePOP will be able to hear the same cast as the original game in both languages. He also confirms that RePOP adds a feature that allows players to choose between the two voice tracks in all versions of the game. Yasuda’s statement is a bit vague on whether these reprises of the old cast are through archived audio from the original game or re-recordings from the original actors.
Lollipop Chainsaw: RePOP’s Voice Options Should Be Interesting
The announcement of the inclusion of Japanese dub voices in Lollipop Chainsaw: RePOP sparked excitement among fans, many of whom had never experienced the game with this feature before. With the game’s setting, plot, and Western comedic horror style, gamers see the addition of the Japanese voice track as a unique way to immerse themselves in the Lollipop Chainsaw universe.
On Twitter, users engaged in discussions about how the dual voice option would function, particularly regarding Juliet Starling’s character, who is voiced by either Eri Kitamura or Yoko Hikasa depending on the version played. Speculations arose about whether RePOP would allow players to freely switch between the two actresses during gameplay, adding an extra layer of customization to the experience. The community eagerly anticipates how the game will accommodate these version-exclusive voices and is eager to see the final implementation in Lollipop Chainsaw: RePOP.
Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP brings several improvements to the table, including faster loading times, refined combat and hit detection, and enhanced resolution and FPS options. While original creators like James Gunn or Suda51 are not involved with the remaster, which has raised some concerns among fans, they won’t have to wait much longer to see if the game meets their expectations. With a scheduled launch in Summer 2024, gamers are eager to dive into the revamped Lollipop Chainsaw experience and see how these enhancements enhance their gameplay.
