New Behind-the-Scenes Look at Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga Reveals Chris Hemsworth as Dementus”
As fans eagerly await the release of George Miller’s Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga trailer, a new behind-the-scenes glimpse has surfaced online, offering another tantalizing peek into the highly-anticipated post-apocalyptic action film.
The image showcases Chris Hemsworth in his villainous role as Dementus, set to clash with a younger iteration of Furiosa portrayed by Anya Taylor-Joy. This new take on Furiosa, known as the battle-hardened Imperator, was first introduced in Fury Road, portrayed by Charlize Theron.
The trailer is expected to unveil a story that delves into Furiosa’s origins, set 45 years before the collapse of society. We witness her abduction from the Green Place of Many Mothers and entanglement in a conflict between warring warlords Dementus and Immortan Joe.
Director George Miller has confirmed that the movie unfolds over a 15-year period, promising an epic journey that spans the post-apocalyptic landscape.
“All I can say about my excitement about doing it is that it’s definitely exciting, because even though it’s certainly of that world of Fury Road, it’s also got a lot of the differences we’ve been talking about. Again, it’s uniquely familiar. And probably the biggest difference is the timespan. Fury Road happened over three days and two nights and this one happens over 15 years. So, it’s a saga.”

“As the world fell, young Furiosa is snatched from the Green Place of Many Mothers and falls into the hands of a great Biker Horde led by the Warlord Dementus,” reads the movie’s synopsis. “Sweeping through the Wasteland they come across the Citadel presided over by The Immortan Joe. While the two Tyrants war for dominance, Furiosa must survive many trials as she puts together the means to find her way home.”
Miller, alongside Fury Road co-writer Nico Lathouris, penned the script for Furiosa. Joining him in the behind-the-scenes creative team are first assistant director PJ Voeten, second unit director, and stunt coordinator Guy Norris, director of photography Simon Duggan (known for Hacksaw Ridge and The Great Gatsby), composer Tom Holkenborg, sound designer Robert Mackenzie, editor Eliot Knapman, visual effects supervisor Andrew Jackson, and colorist Eric Whipp.
The team also boasts a roster of longtime collaborators, including production designer Colin Gibson, editor Margaret Sixel, sound mixer Ben Osmo, costume designer Jenny Beavan, and makeup designer Lesley Vanderwalt. Notably, each of these collaborators previously won an Oscar for their exceptional work on Mad Max: Fury Road.
