James Gunn Responds as Fake Superman Set Photos Circulate Online, Featuring David Corenswet in Full Costume – How They Fooled Anyone Remains a Mystery.

Today, in celebration of the Man of Steel’s birthday, James Gunn treated fans to the first official glimpse of David Corenswet donning the iconic ‘S’ logo for Superman: Legacy. However, amidst the excitement, a couple of purported set photos featuring Corenswet in full costume have surfaced online. While these images initially grabbed attention, their authenticity quickly came into question upon closer inspection. Despite this, they have been circulating as genuine and even garnered attention from various media outlets. Gunn wasted no time in responding to a fan’s inquiry regarding the legitimacy of these photos on Threads.

Insider Daniel Richtman suggests that filming for Superman: Legacy is currently underway in Norway, with plans to move to Atlanta later this month. This aligns with the snowy chest emblem seen in leaked set photos.

The star-studded cast includes Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern Guy Gardner, and Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho.

New additions to the cast include Sara Sampaio as Lex’s assistant/lover Eve Teschmacher and Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen. Additionally, María Gabriela de Faría joins as Angela Spica/The Engineer, with rumors swirling about Milly Alcock’s Supergirl making a debut before her own standalone film.

While details about the roles of these superheroes remain unclear, director James Gunn has hinted at exploring Superman’s dual life as Clark Kent and the Man of Steel. This suggests that these characters may play a role as Superman’s ‘super friends,’ though whether they form an actual team is yet to be seen.

“Overjoyed to be announcing the start of principal photography on SUPERMAN today, February 29, which just so happens to be – coincidentally and unplanned – Superman’s birthday,” Gunn captioned his photo earlier today. “When I finished the first draft of the script, I called the film ‘Superman: Legacy.’ By the time I locked the final draft, it was clear the title was SUPERMAN,” he added. “Making our way to you July 2025.”

Excitement is building for Superman: Legacy as filming progresses and the cast continues to expand. With a diverse array of characters joining the iconic Superman mythos, fans are eager to see how they’ll be integrated into the storyline.
