TMNT: Mutant Mayhem Was a Big Hit

“Mutant Mayhem” has become a standout installment in the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise, lauded by many for its screenplay, stylized animation, and stellar performances. Premiering at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival last May, the film enjoyed a successful box office run, raking in $180.5 million against a $70 million budget.

The star-studded voice cast, including Seth Rogen, Nicolas Cantu, Brady Noon, John Cena, Giancarlo Esposito, Jackie Chan, Ice Cube, Paul Rudd, and Maya Rudolph, added to the film’s allure. Director Jeff Rowe, impressed by the mid-credits scenes of “Mutant Mayhem,” eagerly returned to helm the sequel.

Following its release, “Mutant Mayhem” garnered nominations for Annie, Saturn, and Critics’ Choice Movie Awards, boasting a remarkable 95% critical rating and 90% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. Rowe attributed part of the film’s success to the acclaimed “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” and his careful narrative adjustments.

The film’s triumph at the box office also propelled the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise to surpass $1 billion in global sales.

In addition to the sequel, a spinoff series titled “Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” is in development for Paramount+, with Titmouse, known for “The Venture Bros.” on Adult Swim, involved in its creation. “Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” is set to premiere on Paramount+ this summer.

Mark your calendars: the “Mutant Mayhem” sequel hits theaters on Oct. 9, 2026. In the meantime, fans can catch “Mutant Mayhem” streaming on Paramount+.
