The Mobile Suit Gundam Seed Project ignited initiative, announced in 2021, celebrates the 20th anniversary of the original Mobile Suit Gundam Seed anime in 2022. This multifaceted initiative includes the upcoming film project, a new Mobile Suit Gundam Seed game, and the Mobile Suit Gundam Seed Eclipse side-story manga.

Directed by Mitsuo Fukuda, the film serves as a sequel to the second Gundam Seed television anime, Mobile Suit Gundam Seed Destiny. The original Mobile Suit Gundam Seed series aired from 2002 to 2003, followed by Mobile Suit Gundam Seed Destiny from 2004 to 2005. Additionally, the three-part Mobile Suit Gundam Seed C.E.73: Stargazer anime project debuted in 2006, with the film project announced during the Sony Music Anime Festival ’06 in May 2006.
Tragically, Chiaki Morosawa, the head scriptwriter for the Gundam Seed series, passed away in 2016 at the age of 56. Morosawa, who collaborated with her husband on the planned Gundam Seed film project, had completed the plot for the film by 2008. However, her illness since the conclusion of Mobile Suit Gundam Seed Destiny in 2005 delayed further progress.
Don’t miss the chance to catch an early screening of the film at the Genesis cinema in London on March 17, featuring a Gunpla workshop and pop-up shop from 12 noon to 5 p.m., with the film screening at 2 p.m. Tickets are available now!
