Paramount Pictures recently confirmed the much-anticipated Sonic the Hedgehog 3, and fresh set photos have unveiled exciting details about the upcoming film. Among the highlights is the inclusion of a major character from the beloved video games.
The cast of Sonic 3 will feature six new additions, joining the returning Jim Carrey as the iconic Dr. Ivo “Eggman” Robotnik. The newcomers include Alyla Browne, Krysten Ritter, James Wolk, Sofia Pernas, Cristo Fernández, and Jorma Taccone. Browne, who has been sharing glimpses from the set on Instagram, confirmed her role as a significant character from the game universe.
In the set photos, Browne is seen seated in her chair marked with the name “Maria Robotnik,” hinting at her character’s identity. Maria, Professor Gerald Robotnik’s granddaughter and Dr. Eggman’s cousin, is depicted as battling a terminal illness, leading to the creation of Project Shadow by Robotnik.
She forms a close bond with Shadow the Hedgehog, Gerald’s creation, in a heartwarming narrative arc. While Browne’s appearance remains under wraps, these sneak peeks offer tantalizing insights into Sonic the Hedgehog 3’s exciting adaptation of the beloved video game lore.

The film also teased a new dynamic trio comprising Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles, setting the stage for an epic adventure in the upcoming threequel. Shadow the Hedgehog is expected to emerge as the main antagonist, adding another layer of excitement to the narrative. While details of the plot remain shrouded in mystery, fans can expect the return of familiar voices, with Ben Schwartz reprising his role as Sonic, Colleen O’Shaughnessey as Tails, and Idris Elba as Knuckles.
