My Hero Academia Season 4 Official Dub Moderates Bubble Girl’s Outfit for TV Broadcast.

Arabic TV Dub of My Hero Academia Season 4 Adjusts Bubble Girl’s Outfit

Screenshots shared on the official My Hero Academia subreddit reveal alterations made to Bubble Girl’s attire in the Arabic TV broadcast of Season 4. User The_Caliphate_AS showcased the changes, which include transforming Bubble Girl’s crop top into a full bodysuit, covering more of her chest and stomach. Additionally, adjustments were made to her skirt, eliminating the appearance of a pulled-down zipper. Despite the modifications, Bubble Girl’s character remains unchanged and continues her adventures, including encounters with the tickle machine in Season 4, Episode 2.

Spacetoon, targeting younger audiences, maintains its censorship policy in the Arabic dub of My Hero Academia. This includes modifying suggestive outfits of both minor and adult characters. Notably, characters like Momo Yaoyorozu and Mina Ashido have undergone alterations, alongside adult figures like Midnight and Mt. Lady. While the censored versions air on TV, uncensored designs are accessible via official social media platforms.

MHA’s Bubble Girl Was Originally a Fan Character Aged Up for the Official Franchise

Despite past criticisms of My Hero Academia’s creator Kohei Horikoshi for his portrayal of women, Bubble Girl’s design originates from female artist Abara Chiita, winner of a fan contest hosted by Pixiv. Originally envisioned as a 16-year-old character, Bubble Girl was aged up to 21 to become a significant figure in the series as a pro-hero.

While the Arabic TV dub of My Hero Academia censors sexualized outfits, Spacetoon’s version maintains leniency in other aspects. Notably, gun violence and cigarettes remain uncensored, and blood color alterations are rare. Certain changes, such as renaming Eri to Rei due to cultural nuances, are made to accommodate differences in audience reception.

Looking ahead, My Hero Academia Season 7 is set to premiere on May 4, while the new anime movie, My Hero Academia: You’re Next, will hit Japanese theatres on Aug. 2. Additionally, the free-to-play video game My Hero Ultra Rumble is available on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.
