In a twist of fate fit for a comic book plot, Doctor Octopus once managed the unthinkable: defeating Spider-Man by swapping minds with Peter Parker! And thus, we waved a teary goodbye to our beloved hero and begrudgingly welcomed the ‘Superior’ Spider-Man—a version of Peter possessed by the nefarious Otto Octavius.
As the sands of time trickled on, Doc Ock’s villainy mellowed into a sort of anti-heroism, and Peter eventually clawed his way back. For some ardent fans, this period ranks as one of Spidey’s darkest chapters, while others revel in its twisted tale.
If you’re among the latter camp, brace yourselves for some thrilling news! Hot Toys is gearing up to unleash a Superior Spider-Man figure later this year or in early 2025. Inspired by the unlockable suit from the game-changing Spider-Man 2, which itself draws from the pages of the comic books, this figure promises a suitably formidable take on the “Superior” web-slinger.

But hold onto your web-shooters, true believers! Insomniac Games has recently teased a plethora of new costumes and a New Game+ mode for Spider-Man 2, set to drop on March 7. And the rumour mill is churning with speculation that Spider-Man 3 might just swing in with the Superior Spider-Man—though some argue it could tread old ground given Pete’s stint with the Symbiote.
