The Pokémon Company International Lights Up Empire State Building for Pokémon Day 2024 and Pokémon Horizons Premiere
Mark your calendars for an electrifying event as The Pokémon Company International partners with the Empire State Building to illuminate the New York City skyline later this month.

In a recent press release, The Pokémon Company announced a collaboration with the iconic landmark to celebrate Pokémon Day 2024 and the highly anticipated Western premiere of Pokémon Horizons, marking the first mainline Pokémon anime featuring a protagonist other than Ash Ketchum. On Feb. 27, the Empire State Building’s towering lights will radiate the vibrant yellow and blue hues of the beloved Pokémon logo, painting the night sky in a stunning display. The spectacle is scheduled to dazzle audiences from sunset until approximately 2 a.m. EST.
In addition to the Empire State Building’s spectacular light show, Pokémon is incorporating its popular mobile game, Pokémon GO, into the festivities. On Feb. 27, players visiting the Empire State Building can participate in timed research tasks to earn special rewards such as Incense and Lure Modules. Temporary themed Pokéstops will also be available in the building and its surrounding areas, offering players a chance to encounter a special Pikachu wearing a party hat.
For those unable to attend in person, the celebration will extend to the Empire State Building’s social media platforms, including X (formerly Twitter), TikTok, Facebook, and Instagram. Fans can join in on the fun virtually and stay connected to the excitement of Pokémon Day.
As an added treat, Pokémon Horizons star Captain Pikachu will make a special appearance via a short scene depicting him exploring the Empire State Building’s observatory, adding to the immersive experience for fans worldwide.
Charitable Donation Marks Pokémon Day 2024 Celebration with The Toy Foundation

The Pokémon Company Teams Up with The Toy Foundation for Pokémon Day 2024
In collaboration with The Toy Foundation (TTF), a renowned New York-based charity organization, The Pokémon Company is hosting a special event to celebrate Pokémon Day 2024. The event aims to support TTF’s mission of providing recreational resources to children worldwide, with over 31 million children benefiting from their initiatives.
To mark this occasion, The Pokémon Company is making a significant contribution of over $10,000 to TTF, which will aid in funding its ongoing projects. This donation underscores Pokémon’s longstanding partnership with TTF, with the company having previously donated over $3.7 million worth of Pokémon Trading Card Game and Pokémon Center products to support the organization’s initiatives.
Raquel Daniels, Chief Diversity and Social Responsibility Officer at The Pokémon Company International, discussed the company’s decision to partner with The Toy Foundation (TTF). “Pokémon Day is all about celebrating the Pokémon brand with our passionate fan community,” said Daniels. “Partnering with TTF allows us to make a positive impact on the lives of children and families in need. As we gear up for the Empire State Building lighting event, we’re proud to continue supporting TTF’s vital work and providing opportunities for children and families in New York to enjoy the comfort and joy of play.”
In addition to this charitable initiative, Pokémon Horizons is set to debut on Netflix for North American viewers on Feb. 23, four days before the Pokémon Day celebrations in New York.”
