Marvel fans are buzzing on social media, advocating for Cillian Murphy to take on the role of Doctor Doom in the upcoming Fantastic Four movie.
The excitement peaked on Wednesday when Marvel Studios officially revealed the main cast for the film. Pedro Pascal will portray Reed Richards, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm, Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm, and Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm. While the antagonist role of Doctor Doom remains uncast, fans are optimistic.
Amidst speculation that Doctor Doom could be the villain, fans see an opportunity to make their preferred casting choice a reality. With no official announcement yet, the fervour on social media for Murphy’s portrayal of the infamous supervillain continues to grow.
Cillian Murphy Is Open to Playing Doctor Doom
Cillian Murphy’s chances of securing the coveted role of Doctor Doom may receive a boost, as he has expressed openness to the idea. Fans, who have long championed Murphy for the part, have directly asked him about it. During a 2023 interview on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Murphy reiterated his willingness to consider the role, emphasizing the importance of the screenplay.

“When it comes to roles, it’s always about the script… You never know,” Murphy shared. “This industry is so unpredictable and wild… You never know what’s gonna turn up.” His candid remarks offer hope to fans eagerly anticipating his potential portrayal of the iconic supervillain.
Cillian Murphy, known for his portrayal of Scarecrow in Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy, has yet to venture into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Despite his experience as a major supervillain, most notably in The Dark Knight series, Murphy has not crossed paths with Marvel superheroes.
Recently, Murphy collaborated once again with Nolan on the highly acclaimed film Oppenheimer, a performance that has garnered Oscar buzz. His potential casting as Doctor Doom in the upcoming Fantastic Four reboot has ignited excitement among fans.
Doctor Doom, a revered supervillain, has yet to make his MCU debut. While the character has appeared in various animated projects, live-action portrayals have been limited. Joseph Culp portrayed him in Roger Corman’s unreleased Fantastic Four film, Julian McMahon in the 2005 film and its sequel, and Toby Kebbell in the 2015 reboot.
With the Fantastic Four slated for a July 25, 2025 release, fans eagerly await news of casting decisions, hopeful that Murphy will bring his villainous prowess to the iconic role of Doctor Doom.
