In a recent update from Spider-Man franchise producer Amy Pascal, it appears that Miles Morales will soon be making his long-awaited live-action Marvel debut.

Spider-Man fans might be thrilled to learn that Miles Morales could be swinging into the live-action Marvel universe sooner than expected.

At the Oscars’ luncheon for the 2024 Academy Awards nominees, Variety caught up with Spider-Man franchise producer Amy Pascal to get an update on Miles’ journey to the big screen. Pascal hinted at the possibility, stating, “Someday,” but noted, “Not until we make two more movies… We’re very happy doing [the animated Spider-Verse movies].”

However, Christopher Miller, co-producer and co-writer for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, offered a clarification regarding Pascal’s comment. Taking to social media platform X, Miller explained, “To clarify, when she said ‘not until we make two more movies,’ she meant Beyond the Spider-Verse and the live-action Tom Holland film.”

The delay of Beyond the Spider-Verse came after public backlash over alleged workplace issues during the production of Across the Spider-Verse. Despite this setback, Miller previously teased a satisfying conclusion for the animated Spider-Verse trilogy.

Meanwhile, the reference to “the live-action Tom Holland film” points to Spider-Man 4 in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Following the dimensional crossover in Spider-Man: No Way Home, rumors are swirling that Sony aims to bring back Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield as their respective Spider-Man incarnations. Additionally, there are speculations about appearances from Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin and Paul Rudd’s Ant-Man in the upcoming film.

Spider-Man into the Spider Verse

Addressing his potential return as Peter Parker, Holland stated, “It will have to be worth the while of the character.” With anticipation building for both Miles Morales and Peter Parker’s next adventures, Marvel fans have plenty to look forward to on the big screen.

On one hand, actor Donald Glover clarified that he won’t be taking on the role of Miles Morales in a live-action film, debunking any circulating rumors. The star of Community acknowledged that he feels “too old” to portray the character but expressed enthusiasm about being part of the project in some capacity.

Meanwhile, Jake Johnson, known for his role as Peter B. Parker, expressed his eagerness to reprise his character in the potential movie.

In other news, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is now available for streaming on Netflix. Additionally, fans can anticipate the release of Madame Web, the latest live-action spinoff in the Sony Spider-Man universe, hitting theaters on Feb. 14
