Back in 2019, it was revealed that the Apes saga would continue with a new installment in development at 20th Century Studios under the direction of Wes Ball (known for The Maze Runner). This announcement came as a surprise following what was assumed to be the concluding chapter, Matt Reeves’ War for the Planet of the Apes.

During tonight’s Super Bowl, fans were treated to the debut of a full trailer for Kingdom of the Planet of The Apes, offering a glimpse into the story set hundreds of years after the events of the previous film.

In this new timeline, apes have established themselves as the dominant species on the planet, while humans struggle to survive in a nearly feral state. The trailer teases a narrative where one ape seeks to strengthen his rule by uncovering ancient human technology, while another forms an alliance with a young woman, determined to protect her from the dangers of this world.
