Last month, The Hollywood Reporter provided the initial scoop on Universal’s latest Jurassic World project. According to THR, David Koepp, known for his work on the original Jurassic Park and its sequel, is currently crafting the script for this anticipated installment.

Now, Deadline has confirmed that David Leitch, renowned for his direction in Deadpool 2 and Bullet Train, is set to helm the project. The pace of development is remarkable as the seventh film in the franchise swiftly secured both a writer and director within a few weeks.

In addition, Deadline reports that the film is slated for a July 2, 2025 release, just over a week before Warner Bros. launches its Superman reboot, Superman: Legacy, on July 11, 2025. The race to the box office is heating up, promising an action-packed summer for moviegoers!”

Scepticism Surrounds Jurassic World Sequel Release Date

Despite reports of an unfinished script by Koepp, Universal is determined to fast-track the latest Jurassic World film. Cinema fans express doubts about the project meeting its current release date.

According to Deadline, the new film will introduce a fresh cast, with neither Chris Pratt nor Bryce Dallas Howard expected to reprise their roles. Additionally, the original Jurassic Park cast, who made appearances in the recent trilogy, will reportedly be absent from this latest iteration.

Director David Leitch is poised to revolutionize the franchise, promising a fresh perspective unlike anything seen before, according to Deadline. This innovative approach aligns with the executives’ desire for a rejuvenated series.

Franchise stalwarts Steven Spielberg, Frank Marshall, and Patrick Crowley are on board as executive producers, adding their seasoned expertise to the project.

Despite mixed critical reception, the Chris Pratt-led trilogy soared past the billion-dollar mark worldwide, showcasing audiences’ enduring appetite for classic action intertwined with prehistoric creatures.

Interestingly, the upcoming film isn’t labeled as a reboot, sparking speculation. After the events of 2022’s Jurassic World Dominion, where dinosaurs and humans faced a coexistence dilemma, fans are curious about the direction the narrative will take.

Devotees of the original trilogy yearn for a return to the franchise’s roots, favoring isolated island settings and dinosaur chaos.

As we anticipate the launch of what seems to be a new trilogy, helmed by Koepp and Leitch, the burning question remains: will they honour the original trilogy’s essence or embrace the modern human-dino coexistence of recent films?
