Following the success of last year’s Evil Dead Rise, the fifth instalment in Sam Raimi’s beloved franchise, another chilling addition is in the works!
Today, Deadline reported that Sébastien Vaniček has been tapped by Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert’s Ghost House Pictures to helm an untitled Evil Dead spinoff.
While plot details remain shrouded in mystery, it’s clear that Raimi and Tapert see great potential in Vaniček, whose feature debut Infested (Vermines) caught their attention last year.
This new direction for the franchise involves Raimi handpicking emerging filmmakers to offer their unique take on the Deadites, a strategy that has proven successful.
From Fede Alvarez’s 2013 reimagining to Lee Cronin’s Evil Dead Rise last year, each filmmaker brings a fresh perspective to the blood-soaked saga.
Unlike the wait between previous installments, fans won’t have to wait long for this new chapter. Stay tuned for updates!
Spider Attack Movie
Meanwhile, Vaniček’s Infested, hailed as possibly the best “when spiders attack” movie in over three decades, has been acquired by Shudder for distribution following its North American premiere at Fantastic Fest.
Reviewer Trace from Bloody Disgusting praised the film’s ability to unsettle audiences, awarding it 4/5 stars.
