Diego Luna, the star of “Andor,” recently provided fans with a much-anticipated update on the production of Season 2 of the popular Star Wars series. In an interview with Variety, Luna revealed that he is in the final stretch of shooting, with just a week left before wrapping up production. This comes after the series faced temporary delays in the UK due to last year’s major Hollywood strikes.

Luna expressed optimism about the project, highlighting the advantage of knowing that “Andor” has a definitive ending. He shared, “The good thing about Andor is we know it has an ending. It’s nice to work knowing there’s an ending. You can aim for something.” Teasing the epic conclusion of the Disney+ series, Luna mentioned that he has only seven days left to shoot, emphasizing the determination to complete the season despite challenges.

Reflecting on the challenging circumstances of filming, Luna mentioned the difficulties faced during the first season due to the pandemic and now, the strikes. However, he reassured fans that the upcoming season will be worth the wait, hinting at an unforgettable celebration to mark the completion of the series. “The party’s going to be worth it,” Luna declared, building anticipation for the culmination of “Andor” Season 2.

The release schedule for Andor Season 2 has undergone an official change due to filming delays, marking a shift from its initially anticipated debut in Fall 2024. Disney recently confirmed through a press release that only The Acolyte and Skeleton Crew are included in Disney+’s 2024 TV slate for Star Wars shows.

In addition to Diego Luna reprising his role, the final installment of Andor Season 2 will see the return of Adria Arjona as Bix Caleen, Stellan Skarsgård as Luthen Rael, Genevieve O’Reilly as Mon Mothma, Denise Gough as Dedra Meero, and Forest Whitaker as Saw Gerrera.

Notably, Andy Serkis, who portrayed Kino Loy and played a pivotal role in the intense prison escape in Episode 10 of Andor Season 1, remained tight-lipped about his character’s potential return in Season 2. Serkis intriguingly stated, “All that we do know is that he survives. I mean, we don’t see him die. We see him left for a further life of the character. But prior to that, there were no discussions at all about [what] might happen afterwards.” The mystery surrounding Kino Loy’s fate adds an element of anticipation for fans awaiting the upcoming season.
