Recent trade reports stirred up speculation about the potential casting of Milly Alcock, Emilia Jones, and Meg Donnelly for the coveted role of the Girl of Steel in the highly anticipated Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow movie. Screen-tests for the role are slated for the upcoming week, despite some apparent skepticism from DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn or, at least, one of the actresses rumored to be in consideration.
Despite the uncertainties, industry insiders are leaning towards Milly Alcock as the leading contender for the iconic role. Notably, @21xfour has unveiled a fresh character concept envisioning Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El. The artwork pays homage to the character’s classic appearance while incorporating a few modern updates, such as a redesigned red skirt and higher boots.
The artist shared insights into the creative process, stating the following:
“I’ve been working on a Supergirl concept for a while now. Initially, I had a different actress in mind, but with recent announcements about potential candidates for the new Supergirl in the DCU, including Milly Alcock, the decision was clear. Inspired by her remarkable performance in ‘House of the Dragon,’ I genuinely hope she secures the role and gets the opportunity to showcase her full potential.”
