The process is proving to be more time-consuming than initially thought, and according to recent reports, the commencement of filming for the reboot might be delayed beyond our initial expectations.
The potential delay in the release date remains uncertain, but with Kevin Feige taking a more hands-on approach, it appears likely, given the significance of ensuring the success of this pivotal movie.

Given the potential of Fantastic Four to become the next Avengers franchise, Marvel Studios cannot afford any missteps, especially considering the less-than-stellar performance of Eternals.

A reliable Hollywood insider, deuxmoi, has shared an update indicating that Marvel Studios has nearly finalized the cast for Fantastic Four. Vanessa Kirby is reportedly a strong contender for the role of the Invisible Woman, joining Pedro Pascal, who is expected to portray Mister Fantastic in the MCU reboot.
While The Thing and the Human Torch castings remain undisclosed, recent reports suggest that Ebon Moss-Bachrach and Paul Mescal have secured these roles.
Additionally, scooper Daniel Richtman supports earlier reports of Furiosa star Anya Taylor-Joy being offered a villainous role in Fantastic Four. The character she might portray is still unknown, but speculations from last year suggested a possible gender-swapped Silver Surfer or Galactus Herald in the form of Frankie Raye/Nova.
We can’t escape the feeling that a casting announcement is imminent and, if the cast has indeed been locked in, then it might be a matter of days away.
Stan Lee and Jack Kirby introduced The Fantastic Four in 1961. This superhero team consists of Reed Richards (Mr. Fantastic), Susan Storm (Invisible Woman), Johnny Storm (Human Torch), and Ben Grimm (The Thing). These characters acquired their superpowers during a space mission, solidifying their status as Marvel’s inaugural family of superheroes.
Reed is a brilliant strategist with the ability to stretch, Sue possesses powers of invisibility and force fields, Johnny controls fire, and Ben exhibits super strength while being covered in rock.
Director Matt Shakman collaborated with Josh Friedman, co-writer of Avatar: The Way of Water, and Cam Squires, who worked on WandaVision, for the latest revision of the Fantastic Four screenplay. The film is set to hit theaters on May 2, 2025.
